This year the IC3 Regional Forum took place on 29 June 2024 at the Open Minds International School, Kollur as host school. IC3 Regional Forums are designed to create a space for schools, education leaders, and university representatives to collaborate on how best to equip and support students for college and career counseling.
The school counselor from KENNEDY HIGH attended the impactful sessions where educational professionals shared their perspectives and experiences with the global community. This year the IC3’s theme for 2024 is “From Competition to Competence,” and was the key discussion topic.
The key speakers were Farida Temple state director, WWf-India’s Hyderabad office, Aruna Muddana, head of CIE and IBCP Birla Open Minds International School Kullur, Dr. Usha Yanamandra Founder of Katalyst, Anila Kumari, Trade Manager, South Asia, Victorian Government, Mr. Daniel Mathew, Senior Principal Information Developer/Technical Writer, Oracle corporation of India, Jazeen Siddiqui, International marketing and corporate training manager Ritika Singh, executive director IC3 movement and Krithika Balaji , assistant director academics IC3 institute.
The key take always are as follows:
• Students can be empowered to build their reflective capabilities to build self-awareness on their skills, knowledge, abilities and interest in the core competencies they are good at from an early age.
• Creating awareness in children and students about the level of skills they have and steps and strategies to build excellency in skills.
• Using technology to build vocabulary at the early age, like Chat GPT can also be a useful tool to explore interests, aptitudes and skills of the students to get deeper insights into their self-understanding and awareness.
• Mrs. Farida Temple, the state director of WWf INDIA Hyderabad office (AP and Telagana), shared her keynote and spoke of her career growth and choices. She also mentioned she was known as wild fruit eater in her school and that she always loved nature, which was her stepping stone to reach her career path.
• A university fair was organized by the Indian as well as western universities.
• Mrs. Aruna talked about the role of teachers in building resilience to help students facing setbacks.
• Mr. Mukund Kumar, founder of Mymentor academy presented his ed-tech platform and shared how this platform builds core competencies and character skills through the activities.
The forum ended on a positive note with Miss Krithika and Miss Ritika both sharing how to volunteer and get involved further in the IC3 movement and IC3 institute.
