KENNEDY STUDENTS CELEBRATE MAKAR SANKRANTI 2025- THE FESTIVAL OF HARVESTS

The students of KENNEDY HIGH the global school celebrated Makar Sankranti on Thursday, 9 January 2025 with immense enthusiasm and joy.

The presence of President Sri B. Subba Reddy was a blessing for the students. The Managing Director Commander Sri N.Krupakar Reddy, appreciated the festive decorations and creativity that enhanced the celebratory atmosphere. Principal Mrs. Rajyalaxmi Bhat’s words of encouragement and appreciation further instilled a sense of belonging and pride in the school community.

The celebrations commenced with "Kumba Swagatham," a ceremonial and respectful welcome for dignitaries, setting an auspicious tone for the day. As part of the Bhogi celebration, students lit bonfires, symbolizing the start of a new beginning and adding warmth to the atmosphere. This activity highlighted the essence of letting go of the old and welcoming the new, a core theme of the festival.

The school management and the Physical Education teachers led an engaging kite-flying activity. Students watched the colorful kites soar into the sky from a safe distance, enjoying the vibrant display. Additionally, students took the opportunity to share insights about the cultural and historical significance of Sankranti, fostering a deeper understanding of the festival among their peers.

Traditional practices like "Bhogi Pandlu" were performed, where children were showered with offerings as a blessing, and "Bhogi Mantalu" was offered to God as part of the rituals. These activities added authenticity and spiritual depth to the celebration.

The students also showcased their talents through various performances, reflecting the diversity and artistic brilliance of Indian culture. Dance performances, prayers for a bountiful harvest, and vibrant displays of creativity brought the celebration to life.

A Rangoli competition was organized for students of Classes V and VIII and Grades 5 and 8. The intricate patterns and vibrant colors of the Rangolis added a visually appealing and festive charm to the event while bringing out the artistic skills of the participants.

Overall, the Makar Sankranti celebration at KENNEDY HIGH the global school was a resounding success. The day not only brought joy and festivity but also served as a platform for cultural exchange, learning, and fostering a deeper appreciation of India’s rich traditions and diversity.
